Us was written back in 2013 with the first recorded arrangement of the song never seeing the light of day. The second time it was recorded was directly after the 2020 album release in November. This version is featured on Crazed Visions band camp as a single. Following a relationship that held a lot of influence to Matt’s writing process, he decided to give the song one more go with new emotions to be embedded within the lyrics which have remained the same for the most part throughout each attempt of recording. The single on band camp and the version featured on the album are two pictures of an emotional landscape existing before and after Matt’s relationship. The addition of the hand drums and Ian’s lead guitar gave this song the punch Matt felt the song needed to finally lay it to rest.
lyrics
We go down these roads
And these roads go down with us
Draining every last drop,
And we go down shooting
Heading off in search of some new crazed vision
I hope it could still somehow find it’s way
Back into Us
These last two beating hearts
Each anchored by the other’s arrow
Until we’re bound to part,
Bound for our obscure endings
The day these arrows rip out
With a pool of blood
I hope could still somehow find it’s way
Back into Us.
